Traveling with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) can be challenging for many, especially for those who have been recently injured. Our goal is to catch you quickly up to speed, so you encounter fewer travel problems when you're planning your next trip.

General Tips

  • Make sure you plan your trips far in advance. For example, some tours require 6 months notice if you are an accessible traveler who may need assistance.
  • Don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you need to about the accessibility of the locations you will be traveling to.
  • Have a backup plan! Not all trips will go according to the plan, but that's fine. Always try to make the most of the situation.
  • Know your own specific needs and try to (without ruining your vacation) foresee what could go wrong and take the minimal amount of backup.
  • Bring any medicine or supplements (such as Vitamins / Airborne) and anything that is needed, especially if you have a suppressed immune system. You should definitely bring them, especially if you take them everyday, even if you're taking a short trip.
