United States is Home to Plenty of Accessible Cities

With the advent of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990, standards were set in stone for the future of our cities to support and protect the needs of disabled persons. Luckily for us, it's been a few decades since this law came into place and plenty of cities have grown accustomed to making it easier on their disabled patrons and travelers.

What makes a city accessible?

  • The environment contains mostly wide sidewalks.
  • The public transporation has ramps for accessibility.
  • The taxi companies also operate wheelchair accessible taxis.
  • The local attractions are easy to navigate on foot.
  • The public services and facilities are wheelchair friendly.
  • The weather is fair: it isn't extremely cold or hot.
