Delta Air Lines invokes stricter policies regarding service, support animals onboard

Starting March 1, Delta Air Lines will require passengers flying with service or support animals to verify said animals’ health and vaccine standing using the company’s website at least 48 hours before their Delta flight, the New York Times reported. These strict policy changes come in response to an increase of animals aboard Delta flights who exhibit poor behavior and degrade the flight experience for other passengers. Additionally, the airline hopes these policies will restrict the number of owners who illegitimately claim they have a service or support animal in order to avoid paying the standard fee for flying with a pet.
